“We’ve accomplished something!” Starscream remarked with a voice that was dripping with irony, while he shot a displeased look out of half-closed optics at Skywarp.
“We’ve ended up being just at the exact same spot, we’ve left two hours ago.” Thundercracker added, while he stepped forward, invading Skywarp’s personal space. This time not in a welcoming way. “Two hours of precious Earth-time. Wasted.”
“I’m sorry. I was sure I’ve read the map correctly.” Skywarp tried to explain his mistake with a barely audible voice.
“I can’t hear you Skywarp. What was that?” Starscream asked, pretending that he hadn’t heard his previous attempt of an apologize.
“I said …”

“I know what you've said, moron. It’s still a mystery to me, how you’re still functional.” His commander was close to lose his temper and this time Thundercracker wouldn’t jump to his aid. They had received an important assignment and thanks to his poor navigational skills they had archived nothing.
“It’s a miracle that you’re even able to fly this spaceship.” Starscream added, while he got up from where he had sat to pace around the spaceship. It would be a matter of astro-minutes until Megatron would contact them, to ask how the mission was going. And all he had to offer was bad news. Starscream tried to console himself, that it hadn’t been his idea to give Skywarp the command over the spaceship. It had been his idea. That was something he had to rub Megatron under his nose, simply because he wanted to enrage him.

Skywarp got smaller and smaller on the pilot’s seat, yet somehow managed to keep the spaceship on course. Thundercracker reached for the map, which laid in front of Skywarp on the control panel. “Give me this and let me see, if there is a short circuit we can take to make up for the lost time.” When he was sure that Starscream wasn’t paying attention to them, but being busy glaring out of the window into space, Thundercracker whispered to Skywarp. “You can thank me later for saving your ass, if there is a short circuit.” He winked at him before he turned his attention back to the map.

“Turn right, but not so … fast”. Thundercracker gave Skywarp a look out of the corner of his optics. “This babe is pretty sensitive, so don’t try to turn around too fast. We don’t want to accidentally come in contact with asteroids and risk a crash-landing, right?” The slight warning tone in his voice made Skywarp uncomfortable.

“If you ever manage to crash-land make it so, that we all die and don’t have to deal with Megatron and his rage.” Starscream gave him probably the baddest advice in the current situation.

“Starscream … Please I try my best.” All Skywarp earned was laughter.
“Ignore him, and keep flying. Only listen to me.” Thundercracker murmured next to him, letting his fingers brush against the back of his hand. Skywarp smiled nervously at Thundercracker.

“Now, gently to the left and then straight forward for eight astro-minutes”.

It was during this forward flight that Megatron appeared on the screen of the communication module of the ship. “How is the mission going, Starscream?” The way Megatron spoke out his name, made the Air Commander visibly uncomfortable. Megatron has probably sensed that something was at odds. “Lord Megatron …” he began, trying his best to keep his composure and not let it be visible on his face that he wasn’t the bringer of good news.

“Don’t listen to him, Skywarp. It’s me you should listen to … and please put your optics out into space and not my face. Otherwise we will crash-land.” Silently Skywarp murmured “Thanks again. I owe you one.”
When he had turned his look away from Thundercracker and back to the front window, Thundercracker smirked, while giving him the next navigation instructions. He had calculated that they wouldn’t win much time, at most forty-five Earth-minutes but given the amount of asteroids and scattered remnants of spaceships outside this was not bad.
