[admin post] Admin Post: Mod Changeover, Part 2

Hello, writers! [personal profile] autobotscoutriella here.

A big thanks again to [personal profile] darjeeling for all her hard work on this community, and I hope we'll see you around again someday!

I'm planning to put a voting post up for Challenge #21 sometime Monday evening, and will continue from there with the voting posts on Monday/winners post and new challenge on Wednesday schedule. That should give anyone who's interested time to get one more fic in before the deadline, and we'll get back to the regular weekly schedule at that point.

If you have ideas for prompts, please let me know! I have a list of ideas, but more are always welcome.

As most of you have probably noticed, I tend to write an entry for every challenge, and I'm planning to keep doing that, but I'm not entirely sure it's fair for my entries to be included in voting if I'm also moderating. Does anyone else have any thoughts/strong opinions on that? Right now, I'm thinking about just leaving mine out of the voting posts each week (possibly with an exception if we only had a couple entries), but I'm a bit new to this, so let me know what you guys think.

Thanks very much to all of you for your patience during the changeover!

Edit September 2: Per the discussion below, I'll be leaving my entries out of the voting posts (though I still plan to write fills for as many prompts as I can). Thank you!

Personally, I have no problem with you putting your entries up for voting. I don't see that knowing the challenge in advance gives you an unfair advantage or anything.

Thanks, that's good to know! I was thinking more in terms of seeing who votes for what--since the votes are supposed to be anonymous, it doesn't seem quite fair for me to both enter the contest and see the screened comments with everyone's votes.

Hm, I hadn't considered that aspect, I suppose that could be a bit awkward for you. Really it's down to what you, as Mod, feel is the best course of action, I just hope you'll still give us the opportunity to read your fills.

Oh, definitely! I plan to keep writing and posting--that's half the fun of the community, after all. :)

Oh goodie!

True, it is!

I think it would be more fair if you posted your fics but left them out of voting. Thanks for thinking of that! I had been wondering.

That was definitely my instinct--posting them means I still get the fun of participating, but leaving them out of the voting round avoids any conflicts of interest or unfairness to other participants. Thanks for the input!

Glad you've stepped in to take over the community. A pity we won't be able to vote for your entries anymore but yeah, seeing all the votes makes it tricky. Will still be looking forward to reading your entries in any case. :)

Thank you! I'm so glad you're enjoying my fics, and I hope you'll enjoy my prompts just as much. :)
