Challenge 143: NIGHTMARE

Sometimes, your dreams are just awful. There’s a wide range of nightmares, from the relatively mundane fear of showing up at school or work without pants all the way to reliving the worst, most traumatic events of one’s life. Sometimes the emotions from the nightmare linger for days; other times, all it takes to shake them off is a nice cup of coffee or a hug from someone you care about. Some nightmares are safely confined to the world of dreams, but under some circumstances, they can even follow you into the waking world! How do your characters deal with nightmares? What kind do they have? Write a story about a nightmare. BONUS GOAL: “It’s not real. It was just a dream.” If your submission includes this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!
