Silence can mean a lot of things. It can be soothing after a busy day, or a relief after something horrible has happened. It can also be chilling, a sign that things are not as they seem or a warning of something worse to come. Some characters desperately seek out silence wherever they can get it; others need noise and find silence akin to torture.
