Challenge 198:
HARVEST TIME
According to the dictionary, “harvest” just refers to the season for gathering crops, the act of gathering them, or the actual product being gathered, but the concept brings a lot of other connotations with it – a time of plentiful food and family gatherings, maybe, or the time of year when the seasons and the landscape start to change significantly, or perhaps (for those doing the harvesting, or the cooking) the busiest, most exhausting time of the year. Different regions often have different traditions, often associated with the weather and the type of crops as well as cultural norms surrounding them; in many places, “harvest time” is no longer something the majority of society has to actively participate in, though the celebrations and rituals may remain.

How do your characters approach harvest time? Is it something they have to be a part of, or a relic of an older time? Do they enjoy the celebrations and rituals, whatever they may be?

Write a story about harvest time.

BONUS GOAL: In the Moonlight

If your submission takes place in the evening or at night, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!

Challenge ends Monday, October 30 at 9:00PM EST.
