Challenge 213:
PROTECTION
Some things are just too big to be dealt with alone. Maybe it’s a world on fire, an approaching army, a giant monster; or maybe it’s something smaller, a complicated legal or family situation that the protagonist is too young or too inexperienced to handle, a mundane neighborhood crisis or a school bully. Either way, the character(s) involved needs someone to protect them!

But as reassuring as protection might sound, it isn’t always easy. Maybe our hero needs to protect someone else, even though they’re not sure they’re qualified. Maybe our hero doesn’t want to accept protection, because it makes them feel weak or because it comes at a cost they’re not willing to pay. Maybe they know that their protector won’t live through it – and they’re not willing to take that risk.

Write a story about protection.

BONUS GOAL: "I'm here for you. No matter what."

If your submission includes this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!

Challenge ends Monday, March 25 at 9:00PM EST.
