Archiving My Fics + A New Project?

So since Ao3 keeps getting blasted by the Death Star, it would PROBABLY be in my best interests to get a move on in archiving my fics over here SOOOOOOO at some point in the next month you’ll probably start to see a lot of stories pop up over here! Read them if you want, but honestly no pressure since it’s just OC shit. xD

Also, for some reason I’ve been thinking about what goes into making a fanshrine? I’ve wanted to make SOMETHING to show my admiration and appreciation undying devotion to Leon Kennedy for a while now, and thanks to RE9 it’s had me going back and reviewing a lot of his story and learning things I either never knew or completely forgot. I’ll start looking up inspo to see how other folks approached it, but if you have any you could link me, LET ME KNOW I WANNA SEE 👀

Speaking of fandom projects, my ReNagi ship manifesto is nearing completion and I’ve harped over this damn thing for so long that I’m not sure I wanna post it b/c AH UGH OUGH EXPOSING MY INTERESTS TO THE MASSES but know that it’s been on my mind and I’ll get brave enough to post it one of these days. xD

Shit while we’re here does anyone ever have one of those moods where you have so many ideas for fan projects running through your head but know fuck all on how to execute them? I honestly might just hand them off to someone to execute b/c I don’t wanna be perceived, but we’ll see. Making a ReNagi zine and a TatsuJun zine would be so fucking COOL, though…orz

Ok I’m done yapping! Hope the day is treating you well wherever you are! ❤️

The Problem of Fiction ~ Marie Ponsot

She always writes poems. This summer
she’s starting a novel. It’s in trouble already.
The characters are easy—a girl
and her friend who is a girl
and the boy down the block with his first car,
an older boy, sixteen, who sometimes
these warm evenings leaves his house to go dancing
in dressy clothes though it’s still light out.
The girl has a brother who has lots of friends,
is good in math, and just plain good which
doesn’t help the story. The story
should have rescues & escapes in it
which means who’s the bad guy; he couldn’t be
the brother or the grandpa or the father either,
or even the boy down the block with his first car.
People in novels have to need something,
she thinks, that it takes about
two hundred pages to get.
She can’t imagine that. Nothing
she needs can be got; if it could
she’d go get it: the answer to nightmares;
a mother who’d be proud of her; doing things
a mother could be proud of; having hips
& knowing how to squeal at the beach laughing
when the boy down the block picked her up & carried her
& threw her in the water. If she’d laughed
squealing he might still take her swimming
& his mother wouldn’t say she’s crazy, she would
not have got her teeth into his shoulder till
well yes she bit him, and the marks
lasted & lasted, his mother said so,
but that couldn’t be in a novel.

She’ll never squeal laughing, she’d never
not bite him, she hates cute girls, she hates
boys who like them. Biting is embarrassing
and wrong & she has no intention of doing it again
but she would if he did if he dared,
and there’s no story if there’s no hope of change.

Now there's a poem after my own grizzled heart. I've played - off and on - over the years with this Idea. That one could pen a poem to preface or inspire a prose piece.

Anyone care to try this as a prompt? Take a plot bunny/character you've been holding near and dear but have not been able to translate into fic just yet - it could be original it could be fandom, but I think we should focus on original writing if we can - and write a poem. THEN we can try to write the exploded fic.

I'm going to work on this all morning and will return with a post. Please comment with a link if you would like to join in on the agony fun and we can read, comment, and discuss.

1. If you could change one thing about your personality or behavior, what would it be and why?

When I was young they called me Pollyanna. Because I always looked for the good in people. Like this was a bad thing. Well, I never did change. And I won’t either. But I was taught that it was a weakness. If I had to change something about me , it would be to help other people see the good in people. I’d rather be in a world of Pollyanna’s than the other extreme. Have you all heard this saying? You’re a Pollyanna? It was taken from a Disney movie.

24. Harry Houdini was born today in 1874.  Are you a fan of magic shows? Have you ever seen someone perform close-up magic?

I have seen three magic shows in Vegas. Everyone I was with loved them. But not me. I found it boring and to this day I don’t watch anything with magic in it.

Do you like magic shows?

Are there any children's literary classics you never read, but wish you had? Have you considered reading them as an adult, or have you already done so?

You mean like Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys? Or even little women? I love classics. So I not only read them but made sure my children read them too. Or do they mean Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, or Beauty and the Beast? Because I love them too.

A Pixar musical would be the most irony-poisoned shitstorm possible. We’ve seen how they regard women and LGBTQ people, so there’s no fucking way they’d treat traditional musicals with any respect. Pixar isn’t so much “Not like the other girls” so much as it is “Not like those ICKY girls.”

Newsflash: it’s not “edgy” or “rebellious” to mock musicals when Hollywood has shat on them for decades.

Sidenote: I like Moana, but even when I first saw the part where Moai was all, “If you start singing, I’m gonna throw up,” I wanted to smack him so fucking hard he’d leave a crater in the ground.

Finally finished the Systems Leadership course I started in, ~checks calendar~ November and can't believe it's finally done. It was so long, and so poorly written, and so badly put together that i'm still not completely sure what it was trying to impart to me. It also closed down for active participation midway through January with no warning at all, which really put a stake in my (admittedly rather low) motivation to get it finished.

But it's done and I have the certificate and I can report that back to my boss.

But oh my god.

So, Blood and Tea and Red String (2006), the love child of one person, made over the course of over 10 years, is my new favourite thing. If you want to make a dark fairy tale, embrace the fact it's still a fairy tale, which this movie certainly did.

Basically, the aristocratic Mice ask the Oak Creatures to make them the doll of their desires. They do, but they live the doll so much they offer the Mice's money back to keep it. The Mice steal it.

Reality and fiction mix. I feel like there's something about women being treated as objects (and then there's the spider woman). Maybe I'm reading too much into it. Maybe it's just a surreal piece of art.

(Also, the water is made of, I think, that very transparent film one can use to wrap food or whatever. Lovely!)

Hi guise!! (That's my gender-neutral variation of 'guys' as a catch-all term of endearment). I finished watching the k-drama Knight Flower on [personal profile] china_shop's recommendation and IT WAS SO GOOD.

The heroine is a widow during the old-timey monarchy; her life is extremely restricted and it's actually similar to how widows are treated in my country/culture including in my own family just a couple generations ago. So she was immediately sympathetic to me. She becomes a masked vigilante at night, so that she can give herself something fulfilling to do, and her fight scenes are such fun!

Her love interest is a guy in law enforcement who is supposed to catch her but ends up wanting to protect her identity and aid her, which is DELICIOUS to me. He's so righteous in a non-bureaucratic way, I love it. And when he's jealous he's not scary jealous, he's cute pouty jealous, which is my FAVOURITE. It's a delicious slow burn but they don't even kiss at the end, which gave me the feeling of reading a fic tagged with edging and finding out it's actually orgasm denial. Speaking of fic, I have found a couple of fics in which they purportedly kiss, so I'm going to savour those!

I also binge-watched Season 2 of Deadloch, six episodes in two days. Shoutout to [personal profile] isabrella because I wouldn't have found out a second season was out now if you didn't mention it!

I'm still reblogging Yunho things on Tumblr despite the pain mixed with my usual adoration when he appears on my dashboard. I've weaned myself off an idol before, and forcing it doesn't work, so I'll see how I continue to feel, I guess. Vara talked to me about it, and she said a lot of people who have messy romantic relationships are decent in general/in their other relationships. I see her point, and I think any idol in his place would have done the same (not standing up for his girlfriend in order to protect his career). But I can't excuse him allowing her to think he was going to come back and make it up to her, if he had no intention to make good on those promises. Vara said it's not all on him to give her closure, but at the very least he should be honest with her about breaking up with her. He was neither honest nor kind.

I've been bleeding lightly since the 21st even though I had my moontime on the 8th this month. It's the second month I'm bleeding during my luteal phase. It's a good thing I've got cloth pads for light bleeds because imagine if I had to run through boxes of pads during my heavy periods and then had to use pads again for the irregular bleeds. I told Bella that I'm using one to two pads a day and she said she considers that a normal period because that's how much she bleeds during her period. We laughed mirthlessly about me calling it a 'light bleed'.

I've ordered chasteberry vitex tablets so I'm hoping those will reduce my estrogen dominance. I found out that poongar rice, a traditional rice variety from Tamil Nadu, is called 'women's rice' because it's got the nutrients needed for better menstrual health. I'm planning to start eating it for breakfast. It's got iron, magnesium, zinc and calcium. It's got as much protein as a similar serving of greek yoghurt, so with all the talk of protein in wellness spaces I'm surprised it isn't better known. Traditional and heirloom varieties of rice and millets seem to be pretty nutrient-dense, and I'd like to pop fewer vitamin pills.

Entry #3 [3/23/26]

Hi hi hi hi. It's Monday, it's entry day. Yippee

Great thing about doing these on Monday is that there is always a new Fandive episode so I get to listen to that when writing.

I finished the National Theater's recording of The Importance Of Being Ernest so I'm going to use that for my theater critique. I really love the costume design in it. It combines the distinct look and style of 1870s/1880s dress with contemporary flair. I got more specific thoughts about it rattling in my brain but I want to leave those for the critique.

I started watching The Pitt, I'm on episode 4 right now. I don't think I care for medical dramas as a genre but so far I really like it. I think Santos is my favorite character, love her. Also, entirely positive depiction of a trans woman W.

Honestly I can't think of much that has happened so I might just make a list of things I need to do this week
  • Finish Mae + Graecie art
  • Finish landscape assignment
  • Read System Collapse
  • Start performance critique #2
  • Decide on and record podfic for Out of the Auditary
I might post all my art here. On tumblr I only really do fanart but I kinda want to show off some of the other mediums I work in.
