Challenge 165:
APOLOGY
Maybe it was an accident. Maybe it was a misunderstanding. Maybe it was a little mistake. Or maybe it was a very intentional series of bad choices leading to worse outcomes, and now something important is on fire. Whatever the original incident was, it’s over now, and it’s time for you to apologize.

Apologies are hard! Most people don’t like admitting that they did something wrong, even when they know they did. When multiple people were in the wrong, it’s even harder to be the first one to say “I’m sorry”. But it’s often the right thing to do, whether for moral reasons or because it’s the most practical way to smooth over the situation.

How do your characters feel about apologies? Are they willing to make them, or do they try to avoid it? Do they apologize too much? Never? Does someone else need to apologize to them?

Write a story about an apology.

BONUS GOAL: “We’ve heard that before.”

If your submission features this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!

Challenge ends Monday, January 30 at 9:00PM EST.
