Title: out of the proverbial storm into the fire
Fandom: Mario and Luigi RPGs - Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions (Cackletta Is Not Killed Midgame AU + Fawful is a Witch Trainee AU)
Ratings/Warnings: Cackletta and Fawful's combined potty mouths and some mild violence gives this yet another PG-13. Also, has passing spoilers to the Joke's End arcs of both the regular game + the 3DS remake's side mode.
Word Count: exactly 999 words
Summary: Led by fragmented memories of the Beanstar backup plan, Fawful - a.k.a. Vincent - leaves Popple for Joke's End to repair his Headgear, and he is ultimately followed by Cackletta.
Author's Note: I'm back somewhat later than I planned to drop this part of my little Superstar Saga.. well, AU saga. I swear the next one is the last one, I promise.

Challenge 164:
RESCUE

Most of us like to think we can get ourselves out of bad situations on our own. Change a tire? No problem. Fix the computer? Sure. Escape the evil overlord’s dungeon? Well…for that one, you might need a rescue.

Sometimes a rescue comes from a specialized team, trained and equipped to save lives. Sometimes it comes from a handful of very determined allies, who may or may not know what they’re doing but would never leave a friend behind. Sometimes it’s one character, who by luck or skill has found themselves in a position to save a friend. Sometimes it comes from a dog!

Are your characters the rescuers, or the rescuees? Do they appreciate the rescue, or insist that they could have done it alone? Is there a dog involved?

Write a story about a rescue.

BONUS GOAL: “Come with me if you want to live.”

If your submission features this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!
