Theme Prompt: Amnesty #25 - originally prompt #015 - Fever Dream
Title: fever breaks the fall
Fandom: The Real Ghostbusters (+movie canon AU)
Rating/Warnings: PG-13 due to the depiction of an intense nightmare (brief as it is), also contains spoilers for the RGB episode "The Bogeyman is Back" and its sister episode "The Boogieman Cometh" as well as a description of heat stroke.
Word Count: 996
Summary: Both an unusually hot New York City summer climate and a 3-day insomnia episode ends in Egon suffering after fainting during a bust. In the throes of this, Egon sees things he had truly hoped not to tell anyone, and due to the nature of fevers, he unintentionally spills the beans.
Author's Note: Assuming the same continuity as Uncertain Variables, though in terms of where this is placed, it in the AU this belongs to, it happens between the RGB episodes of "Janine's Day Off" and "Dairy Farm". Partially inspired by the soundtrack of My Happy Marriage - particularly tracks "Pain" and "Miyo's Dreams".
This is also written for Fan Flashworks' 78th Amnesty for the respective challenges of "Nightmare", "Ghosts and Gore" and "Did you hear that?".

I’m sorry for the delay with which I come bearing feverish banners. -.-;

First I went to London to see Muse for a weekend and forgot there were banners waiting for winners' names to be added. Then I forgot my bag with the Apple pencil. Then life tossed some stones into my path and killed any creative drive for a few days. And then I thought I was all done and wanted to post and noticed I forgot adding the community name. Go me…

Buuut, here they are! Banners for the winners of challenge 15! Congratulations to you! :D

Here are the entries for this week's challenge:

List of entries )

In order to vote, please reply to this post using the form provided. All comments are screened, and entries are listed in the order they were submitted. For your vote to qualify, you must fill out your entire voting card (all three spots) in order to be counted. When voting, please copy/paste the ENTRY NUMBER and the FIC TITLE from the list above into the spot you're voting for (this prevents accidentally mis-numbering a vote and casting it for the wrong entry). It should look like this:

First Place: 61. Fic Title Here
Second Place: 88. Another Fic Title
Third Place: 47. Finally a third fic title goes here

Please note that you cannot vote for your own entry, and that votes cannot be made anonymously. You do not have to be a member of the community in order to vote, nor have submitted an entry for this week; everyone is welcome to participate in the voting. Challenge 015:
FEVER DREAM

(idiom.) (1. figurative, descriptive) A disjointed or strange experience, especially one that engenders an even greater sense of outlandishness when considered retrospectively. (2. literal) A dream or nightmare, altered by a fever to become particularly confusing and bewildering at the time and even more so in remembering.

Even the most logical among us has the occasional experience where nothing makes sense, whether due to illness like an actual fever, or simply by circumstance. The saying is that reality is stranger than fiction, but sometimes they're not readily told apart!

Write a story where someone has a fever dream-like experience, and what outcomes manifest from that.

BONUS GOAL: Ooh Spooky

If your submission contains a ghost or ghost-like entity, that entry will earn an extra point to be tallied during voting!

Challenge ends Monday, May 27 at 9:00PM EST
