Loyalty is often thought of as being a good thing—after all, describing someone as loyal brings to mind connotations of decency and trustworthiness. Who doesn’t want people to be loyal? But loyalty has a dark side, too. When taken to extremes, loyalty can result in horrible or self-destructive actions taken in the name of someone else—someone might murder anyone they perceive as a threat to the object of their loyalty, for example. And loyalty isn’t restricted to the good guys! Antagonists often have people who are very loyal to them, or are themselves very loyal to someone else. Write a story about someone’s loyalty. If your story includes a focus on/the use of silver (either as a color or a metal), it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting! |
