Challenge 138:
LEVIATHAN

n. a large sea animal or sea monster; something large and formidable

For thousands of years, humans have been fascinated with the idea of leviathans, from sea serpents and dragons in myths and fairy tales to modern-day kaiju movies. Sometimes they’re animals, unknown giants from the depths of the ocean, out of Earth’s ancient history, or from distant planets; other times, the term leviathan is a little more metaphorical, referencing massive spaceships, experimental submarines, or magical phenomena. Whatever the case, a leviathan will always be two things: very big, and very intimidating.

How do your characters encounter leviathans? Maybe they live in a world with dinosaurs, or dragons, or sea serpents. Maybe they travel the universe, occasionally running into strange alien giants. Or maybe they’ve just named their car, submarine, or spaceship after an ancient sea monster.

Write a story about a leviathan (or several).
