Challenge 044:
PERSONAL BUBBLE

(phrase) also called 'personal space' 1. a radius around a person, which broaching can cause discomfort or rebuttal 2. an aspect of proxemics, the study of human use of space

Everyone has a different idea of what a comfortable interaction space is, and sometimes their perception is influenced by upbringing, their society, even their emotional state. Personal space doesn't always refer to a person's immediate presence, it could be a location, a vehicle, anything that someone sees as an area belonging to them. How do they react when someone intrudes? Do they let it go, or take steps to change it?

BONUS GOAL: Nonverbal

If your submission contains any means of nonverbal communication, that entry will earn an extra point to be tallied during voting!

Challenge ends Monday, June 12th at 9:00PM EST
• Post your submission as a new entry using the template in the profile
• Tag this week's entries as: [#] submission, 044 - personal bubble

Challenge 043:
GO FOR BROKE
(noun) 1. a gambling term meaning risking everything to reap substantial reward. / 2. to risk everything; to try as hard as possible.

How many lives have altered their courses when someone, individual or group, decided to throw caution to the wind and risk it all? Were they aiming for something concrete, or was it simply a refusal to go down without a fight? The downside to this kind of strategy of course, is that if it fails, there's often no recourse. Do the risks outweigh the rewards?

BONUS GOAL: First Person

If your submission is written in the first person perspective, that entry will earn an extra point to be tallied during voting!

Challenge ends Monday, June 5th at 9:00PM EST
• Post your submission as a new entry using the template in the profile

Challenge 042:
WHITE NOISE
(noun) 1a. a heterogeneous mixture of sound waves extending over a wide frequency range 1b. a constant background noise; especially one that drowns out other sounds / 2. meaningless or distracting commotion, hubbub, or chatter

It might seem contrary to some, but silence can be unbearably loud. In its place, most people prefer an unobtrusive background static, sometimes called white noise (or brown, or pink, there are apparently different names for different frequencies?) Sometimes this is a mechanical sound, sometimes the lull of people, sometimes the calm melody of nature. Is it reassuring to a character, or intimidating? Does it put their mind at ease, or does it make them restless? Write a story where a character experiences white (or any colour) noise, and their reaction to it.

BONUS GOAL: Not Your Same Old, Same Old

If your submission is for a fandom that you haven't written a [community profile] fandomweekly entry for before, that entry will earn an extra point to be tallied during voting!
